Assess to Progress

Dr. Niamh Ní Aogáin (BEd, BScPsych, MAEdPsych, PhD)

I am an Educational Psychologist with a wealth of experience in the education sector. I worked initially as a primary school teacher and have over twenty years’ experience as a psychologist. I am a chartered member of the Psychological Society of Ireland.

Having worked with the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) for many years, I now work in private practice with both children and adults. I have a special interest in Dyslexia and Dyscalculia.

My work centres on the belief that identifying, understanding and addressing a person’s unique learning strengths and needs is fundamental to their success.

For me, it is so important that every individual, whether a child or an adult, feels safe and at ease during our time together. As assessments can be daunting for some, I strive to create a comfortable and secure environment balancing professionalism with a genuinely kind and empathetic approach. I believe that that this encourages individuals to be themselves, allowing me to truly understand their unique strengths and determine how best to support them.
